TREKKING & KAYAKING (11 days)

 

Journey to the remote North West of the country a mountainous area of outstanding natural beauty, inhabited by a myriad of colorfully dressed 'hill-tribe' peoples. Where we'll trek through the spectacular scenery, visit traditional villages and home stay in the hill tribe villages

A few days sea kayaking in the far reaches of Halong Bay that tourists don't see ...

 

Day 1: Hanoi - Lao cai- Sapa:

Greeting and pick-up at Noi Bai airport . Transfer to Hotel for refreshment, bathing,.... Have dinner. Transfer to train station for overnight train to Lao Cai. Overnight  on comfortable AC cabin on train. 

 

Day 2: Sapa( B, L, D)

Arrive at Lao Cai station at 6:00AM. Transfer to Sapa (30km), check in hotel, have breakfast in Hotel and rest.

In the afternoon, short trekking to Cat Cat village, visiting H'mong ethnic minority people (about 3 hours).

Day 3: Sapa: (B, L, D)

After breakfast, driving by jeep to Ban Ho (about 35km). Trekking to Sin Chai (or Thanh Phu, Thanh Kim) within 5 hours. Jeep drive back to Sapa.

Day 4:Sapa-Bacha market- night train to Hanoi: (B, L, D)

After breakfast, driving to Bac Ha in the morning, and then spend rest of the morning wandering through the exotic colors and sights of the ethnic minority market. After lunch, take a short trek to H’mong village.

Then return to Lao Cai, take night train back to Hanoi. Overnight on train back to Ha Noi. Monday early morning: Back in Hanoi.

Day 5: Hanoi- Cat ba island - Halong bay :(B, L, D)

Arrive back in Hanoi at 5 AM. Have breakfast, relax.

Driving to Halong Bay, stopping en route at a craft village. Board our traditional red-sailed junk for a sumptuous seafood lunch before sailing to Ba Men Temple, deep in the bay. Disembark at its beautiful beach to receive instructions on kayak safety procedures. Afternoon, paddle to a series of hidden lagoons. Barbecue seafood dinner on the beach, followed by moonlight kayaking.

Day 6: Halong Bay kayaking:(B, L, D)

  Morning, kayak around Dau Be Island, passing a hidden floating fishing village on the way, then paddle around the limestone crags emerging from the sea or stop for a swim at an isolated beach before meeting the junk for lunch. Afternoon, kayak across Lan Ha channel to Three Peach Island, a wonderful place for swimming, fishing and sunbathing. Dinner on board.

Overnight on board.

 

Day 7:Halong kayaking : (B, L, D)

After breakfast, kayak around the incredible karst peaks near Three Peach Island before paddling out to one of the most isolated areas in the huge bay of Halong. Lunch on board. Visit the oyster farms and hidden coves around this corner of the bay. Evening, dinner on the boat.

Day 8:Kayaking- Catba island: (B, L, D)

Breakfast on board while the boat cruises to Cat Ba Island. Check in at hotel and lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon, drive across the islands forested interior stopping at fishing and gardening villages. The balance of the day is free to explore Cat Ba.

Day 9: Catba island- Hanoi: (B, L)

 Morning drive to Cat Ba National Park for trek through the jungle with a chance to see rare trees, animals and insects. Picnic lunch in the jungle.

Afternoon, take Hyde foil back to Hai Phong, and return to Hanoi.

Day 10: Hanoi city tour :(B)

After an early breakfast, visit HoChiMinh mausoleum and his former residence - a modest, wooden house on stilts nearby the mausoleum. Proceed to the nearby One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, and the Fine Arts Museum.

(HoChiMinh mausoleum is closed on Monday and Friday; the other museums are closed on Monday)

Day 11: Hanoi-Departure: (B )

After an early breakfast, Free time for shopping yourself and relax.
Transfer to the airport for departure flight. End of services (B)
